Arlene Taylor Ph.D
Arlene
Taylor made her entrance into this world one wintry day in February
when the Calgary, Alberta temperature was 56 degrees below zero.
(That may be one reason she prefers temperate climates!) At the
age of 16 she moved with her family to upstate New York and several
years later became a naturalized American citizen. She graduated
from Loma Linda University in Southern California
with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Over time she added
a master's degree
and two earned doctorates to her curriculum vitae.
As
an enthusiastic young musician, Arlene began piano lessons at
age four, and music has been an important part of her life every
since. She continues to play piano, organ, and vibraharp as her
schedule permits. Her fascination with the brain began early
in life, and was reinforced when her father suggested (long before
she had ever heard of “visualization”): Learn to
practice the vibraharp in your mind, and then you can rehearse
anytime, anywhere. Emerging knowledge about music and the brain
has made her avocation even more enjoyable and led to the creation
of her seminar, Music and the Brain.
At
one point in her life, Taylor became the stepmother of three
little boys, ages 3, 4, and 5! Relatively unprepared for such
challenges, her experiences further stimulated her interest in
how the brain functions and led to the development of seminars
such as:
• Children
and the Brain
• Male-Female Differences
• Affirmation, Programming Language of the Brain
• The Brain Program
If
you ask Arlene what she does in life that absolutely energizes
her, she will typically reply, “I'm a brain function specialist
and I help people thrive!” One of 100 recipients in 2002,
she was awarded the American Medal of Honor for Brain-Function
Education by the American Biographical Institute Inc. An internationally
known writer and lecturer, she is a Professional Member of the
National Speakers Association.
Home
base for Taylor is the beautiful Napa Valley of Northern California.
She is Risk Manager and Director of Infection Control for St.
Helena Hospital and California Specialty Hospital. Weekends often
find her traveling the world as she shares cutting-edge brain-function
information with audiences that have found her to be an engaging
and imaginative speaker. She incorporates brain-function research
into her empowering presentations—information that, when
practically applied, can help people to be more successful…by
